Dewatering
Spiral Dewaterers and Mechanical Dewatering by Pressure
Dewatering equipment is used to separate water from solids in a variety of applications. In the mining industry, spiral dewatering is used to separate valuable minerals from waste rock or ore. In the oil and gas industry, it is used to separate water from drilling fluid or produced water. Spiral dewatering can also be used in food processing, to separate solid from liquid in products such as tomato paste or apple cider.
Spiral dewatering equipment typically consists of a series of spiral-shaped plates that rotate as slurry is fed into the system. The centrifugal force created by the rotation causes the heavier solids to settle out of the slurry, while the lighter water is drawn off through a discharge port. The solids that are collected can then be dewatered further using other methods such as filtration or evaporation.
Another popular method for dewatering is mechanical dewatering by pressure. This process involves using a press to squeeze water out of the solids. The pressure from the press forces the water to separate from the solids and drain away. This leaves behind a dry, solid cake that can be easily disposed of. Mechanical dewatering by pressure is an effective way to remove water from solids, and it is often used in mining, construction, and sewage treatment applications.
