Coolers & Heaters, Heat Exchangers

Indirect heat exchangers are devices used to transfer heat from one fluid to another. In an indirect heat exchanger, the fluids never come into direct contact with each other. Instead, the hot fluid heats up a metal surface, and the cold fluid flows past that metal surface, absorbing the heat. Indirect heat exchangers are often used in industrial applications where one fluid is too hot or too corrosive to come into direct contact with the other.

Indirect heat exchangers are often used in power plants, where they are used to transfer heat from hot water or steam to a secondary fluid. In a typical power plant application, the indirect heat exchanger will be located between the boiler and the turbine. The hot water or steam from the boiler will flow through one side of the heat exchanger, and the secondary fluid will flow through the other side. The heat from the hot water or steam will transfer to the secondary fluid, and the secondary fluid will then be used to power the turbine.

Indirect heat exchangers are also used in many other industries, including the food and beverage industry, and in HVAC systems.

There are many different types of indirect heat exchangers, and the type that is best for a particular application depends on a number of factors, including the nature of the fluids being heated or cooled, the temperature difference between the two fluids, and the desired flow rate.
